life and times of Dr. Abdul Kalam Azad. It is the story of a common person who
went on to become the Missile man of India and the 11th President of
India.

so the rest can find inspiration to go on. 'Wings of Fire' is an autobiography of
the scientist President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
He came up from modest
beginnings. The book is full of personal moments, insights and experiences and
helps you understand his journey through life’s ups and downs to reach success.
Dr Kalam’s narration
makes one search for the inner fire/potential within an individual. He believed
that each person is born with an inner strength and the potential to change the
world.
He has explained how
he inspired himself to accomplish his dreams. The book captures this very
nicely.
The book is a
collection of notes, anecdotes, stories from childhood, school and college.
Also the time he spent at Langley Research Center, NASA and Wallops Flight
Facility.
He has also talked
about personal tragedies. As each victory and tragedy adds to an individual’s
personality and how he succeeds in life.
He talks about his father’s death and how he was conferred with many awards
like Padma Bhushan.
In the second half the
book Dr Kalam talks about his contribution towards the country’s guided missile
program, a pioneering effort. The book has just 24 photographs from his life.
The book has been authored by Dr Abdul Kalam and Mr Arun Tiwari both. Mr Tiwari
was also a well known missile scientist and worked with Dr Kalam. The book
became a best seller and was translated into 13 languages including French and
Chinese.
